Description

Inspired by the classical ideals of ancient Greece, this series of four bronze bas-relief panels by Jonathan Charles pays homage to music as a force of harmony, discipline and cultural refinement. The flutist, harpist, drummer and youthful harp player are captured in poised, timeless gestures, echoing the restrained elegance of ancient relief sculpture. Cast in bronze with a softly aged patina and presented in antique gold frames with linen matting, each piece evokes the quiet authority of an archaeological fragment - enduring, tactile and deeply rooted in history. Together, the figures form a visual quartet, inviting the viewer to imagine sound, rhythm and continuity across centuries.
