Cameo Profiles - Set of 3

This set of three artworks by Jonathan Charles is inspired by Roman plaster cameos, where portraiture was reduced to its purest form - profile, relief and proportion. Each cast cameo echoes the classical tradition of honoring identity through restraint and balance. Presented in patinated antique silver frames with linen matting, the cameos are set within concentric layers of cream mats, stepped inward to create a subtle illusion of depth. The composition draws the eye gently toward the center, elevating these classical profiles into quiet studies of history, craftsmanship and enduring form.
