Description

This series reflects Jonathan Charles’ fascination with the union of craftsmanship, scholarship, and beauty. Six prints draw from antique botanical engravings originally created to record medicinal plants, recalling a time when art and science were inseparable and knowledge was preserved through precision and grace. Printed on Awagami handmade Japanese paper from the Fujimori family mill in Tokushima, the artworks carry the depth and tactility of a 300-year-old craft tradition rooted in over a millennium of regional papermaking.
