Corinthian Light - Set of 4

This series reflects Jonathan Charles’ reverence for classical architecture and the enduring language of ornament. Four hand-drawn renderings of Corinthian capitals celebrate the most ornate of the classical orders, where acanthus leaves, volutes and floral detail are balanced by disciplined proportion and line. Each print is subtly embellished by hand with gold leaf, introducing a quiet luminosity that echoes the historic use of gilding while elevating the drawings into refined decorative art. Printed on Awagami Shiramine handmade Japanese paper from the Fujimori family mill in Tokushima, the works gain softness, depth and material integrity through centuries-old papermaking tradition. Framed with linen matting and restrained dove grey and antique silver details, the collection balances classical richness with contemporary restraint, distilling architectural intelligence into timeless form.
